We highly recommend a visit to Yamanashi Fuefukigawa Fruits Park when in Yamanashi. The highest point of the park gives spectacular views of Mount Fuji on a clear day, a beautiful night view of the Kofu Basin, and has a number of activities for families throughout the park.
WHAT TO DO
Yamanashi Fuefukigawa Fruits Park is a great spot anytime of year. They have Cherry Blossoms in Spring, water play in Summer, playground equipment in a glass dome for Winter/Rainy day play and outdoor play anytime of year.
Start at the base of the park and play on the various playground equipment. Work your way up to view the various fruit trees (grapes, peaches, apples, pears, persimmons, gingko fruits, pomegranates and chestnuts) then walk further up to the Aqua Athletics area for water play on a man-made stream. Work your way a bit further to the glass dome which houses playground equipment that can be enjoyed throughout the year regardless of the weather or season. Relax at their restaurant and cafe, learn about various fruits at their fruit museum or pick up some souvenirs.
There is plenty of green space to picnic or run around, seasonal festivals that take place at the park, a dog run and fountain. If you`re too tired to make the trek to the highest point of the park they offer two three-carriage mini locomotives to take you from the base, to the highest point and even to the hotel at the peak. Just below the hotel sits the Fruits Park Center with souvenier shop, view of Mount Fuji and the Kofu basin, foot bath (100 yen), and train that will take you from the top of the mountain down to the park. An added bonus is a AZ cart racing track for adults less than a minute drive from the hotel and beautiful onsen located nearby.

WHERE TO STAY
At the top of Yamanashi Fuefukigawa Fruits Park sits Fruit Park Fujiya Hotel with breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and the Kofu basin… they have Japanese and Western style rooms and meals, indoor & open air onsen, and Puku Puku hot spring.
A 5 minute drive from the Fruits Park is Kabutoyama Nagashi Somen (flowing noodle on bamboo) restaurant or 5 minutes in the opposite direction is Cherry/Peach or Grape Picking at the Horiuchi Garden. Venture out about an hour drive to Fuji Q Highland`s Thomasland.
