Women’s Day is a day to reflect on equal rights and opportunities for all sexes. We want to highlight two important initiatives; the Asian University for Women and the Girl Fund Project. We encourage you to donate as much as you can. We all live comfortable and safe lives in Japan, and have access to education and medical care. Help raise and protect women through these two charities. The Asian University for Women is also holding their Annual Tokyo Fundraising event on March 14th, so attend if you can to be inspired by courageous leading women.
Women’s Day Support – IWD2019 – Great Charities to Support
ASIAN University for Women achieves #BalanceForBetter on #InternationalWomensDay by admitting students solely on the basis of merit, regardless of their family’s income level, and providing nearly all students full scholarship. Our Pathways for Promise specifically provides scholarships to particularly marginalized populations, including Rohingya refugees, garment factory workers in Bangladesh, and tea plantation workers in Sri Lanka. This #IWD2019, help us tip the scale towards a gender-balanced world by donating to our Crowdfunding Campaign, as we try to raise $150,000 for students in Pathways for Promise. https://www.crowdrise.com/…/balance-for-better-donate-to-au…
Global Giving Girls – Tokyo English Life Line (TELL) for the third year, is continuing to make a noise about the rape and sexual assault laws in Japan and the difficulties surrounding reporting, seeking help and supporting survivors regardless of gender. Sadly for those who are raped or assaulted in Japan, support or actions from the community, lawyers, the police, and even those close to them can create cumulative traumatization that leaves many with lifelong health impacts. As a supporter of TELL you can help make a difference this International Women’s Day and donate to our Global Giving Girls campaign project. The Global Giving Girls campaign runs from Feb. 28 – March 13, and starting 3/8 22:00 Japan time Global Giving will match 30% of any donation to our Girls Fund Project up to 250 USD per donation while funds last, along with funding for the top four projects for the year. Our Girls Campaign project aims to reduce the incidence of sexual violence against girls and young women in Japan through (1) innovative school and university-based educational consent workshops aimed at changing attitudes, & (2) trauma education support groups to help survivors thrive. Will you help TELL in our fight to create #BalanceforBetter in Japan?
