Toms Sandwich is a family-owned and operated sandwich shop that has been around for over 40 years (since June 28, 1973). Located in the Hillside Terrace, kitty-corner from Daikanyama T-site, it`s a cozy place with an open kitchen, a large glass window view of nature and picnic bench-like seating. It offers a wide selection of fresh and hearty homemade sandwiches hard to find in Tokyo; hot corned beef, meatloaf, salami, etc. served on soft, mochi-like bread. They also offer a make-it-yourself combination set which provides your choice of meats, veggies and fresh bread. Their sandwiches are pricey, but are delicious and filling. They even have a loyal Japanese following. You might get lucky and sit next to a Japanese celebrity or two. — This article was originally from Sandra Takada at Tokyo Stroller.com which has merged with BestLivingJapan.com
Suggested itinerary:
In the morning, take the little ones to Saigoyama Park. Have lunch at Toms Sandwich or one of the many family-friendly restaurants in the area then, if the little ones are napping, go shopping or relax with a coffee and a good book at T-site. If they`re up for more fun T-site houses a Bornelund toy store with a small indoor play area, and in summer, a little water play outside the store. The historical Kyu Asakura House is just a 5-min walk from Daikanyama station and even closer is Daikanyama Park – small, but kids love it.
