Jiyugaoka is a lovely area filled with boutiques, restaurants and cafes. If visiting the area with kids we recommend these restaurants and play areas to visit between shopping breaks.

Open from 8:00 Lupicia Tea Shop is a great spot to start the morning with a delicious cup of tea and confectionary. Lupicia is a tea and teaware retailer with locations in Japan, US, France, Australia and Taiwan. Located a short 2 min walk is Jiyugaoka Playground Park and the 800+ year old Kumano Shrine.

Jiyugaoka Playground Park has updated playground equipment, two swings, sandpit and ample space to let little ones run around. Located 2 minutes from the park is the 800+ year old Kumano Shrine. There is a long pathway that leads to the majestic shrine with a small three-seater spring rider. The shrine sponsors the annual Jiyugaoka International Friendship Mikoshi Festival in early September. A great spot to meet locals and join in on the festivities.

Shutters Luz is an easy family-friendly place to have lunch or dinner. Popular with mothers this location is bright and spacious, offers stroller seating at the table and has a private room with floor seating that seats up to 10 people. They serve deliciously tender soy sauce or salt and pepper flavored ribs as well as curries, pastas, salads & dessert. With locations all over Tokyo it`s a great spot for families.

Hidden in a small nook of the Dove Building (located across from the right wall of the Tokyu Store) is Omocha no Mami, a small toy store run by an adorable elderly couple. They carry everything from Transformers to Hachimals, Mell Chan dolls to Power Rangers. Kids will love playing with the toys on display. Warning… they might not want to leave!

Located less than a 5 minute walk from the toy store, walking away from the station, you`ll pass a Starbucks on your way to Okusawa Nichome Playground Park. Grab a cup of Jo and let your kids run wild at the local park. It`s equip with a large enclosed sandpit, slide, swing, spring riders and climbing net.

Post play break stop in Cuoca –  a one-stop shop for baking supplies that aren’t always easy to find. Located across the street and 1 minute from the park Cuoca is stocked with everything from baking inserts and pans to sprinkles and toppers. They carry pastry tips and icing, a variety of high-quality flours, nuts, dried fruits, liqueur and oils. What`s most impressive is their impressive chocolate cellar that is specially designed to keep high-quality chocolate (Belgian, Italian, French, and Swiss) at just the right temperature. Located one floor above Cuoca is Sweets Forest, a great place to relax your feet and indulge your sweet tooth. Sweets forest is a food court of pastries from best selling patisseries.
