Tokyo Midtown – A Family Friendly Paradise

Tokyo Midtown (東京ミッドタウン) is one of our favorite family-friendly spots to spend the day. It is home to several art museums, family-friendly seasonal events, a spacious green park and lush Japanese garden, medical center, services, restaurants and shopping.

We love spending the morning visiting 21 – 21 Design Sight for their innovative exhibits. We also recommend visiting the Suntory Museum of Art. The museum holds over 3,000 articles of Japanese ceramics, paintings, lacquerware and glass. They also offer a traditional tea ceremony in their Genchoan Tea Room (1,000 JPY pp). Admission fees to the Suntory Museum of Art vary based on exhibition. Another favorite is Fuji Film Square, a free photo gallery that has been established to allow visitors of all ages to enjoy and experience the elements of photography.

After a morning at one of the above museums lunch at one of their many delicious and family-friendly restaurants. Have a healthy Japanese meal at Suju or simple pizza at Trattoria Napule. With over fifty restaurants and cafes to choose from your family won`t leave disappointed.

Spend the rest of the afternoon ice skating on the largest seasonal rink in the Tokyo area (20m×42m / 840㎡). The skating rink charges one fee that includes admission, skates, and if wanted helmets and knee pads – open till Sunday, March 5, 2017. Have a fun time skating or participate in one of their seasonal events on the great Midtown lawn. On nice weather days stop in their food hall to take out and eat outdoors where there is plenty of seating or at Hinokicho Park, the lush and perfectly manicured Japanese Garden and playground park.

Tokyo Midtown offers excellent shopping and services; free wifi, free bug-a-boo stroller rentals (up to 4 hours), nursing room, and medical support at the Tokyo Midtown Medical Clinic. Also offered are child-care services to your home via Poppins Active Learning School and Pet-care services via Green Dog.
