Futatamagawa ice skating, tokyo 2019-20202. Futako Tamagawa Rise Skating Garden – Dec 14, 2019 – March 1, 2020 – Enjoy a day of shopping and skating at the Futago Tamagawa Rise complex. They will offer Kids group lessons. Details forthcoming… The skate rink is a full-scale 390 square meter ice skating rink. You can also enjoy the illuminations until December 25th.

3. Citizen Ice Skate Rink (Takanobaba, Shinjuku) – year round –  This rink is located in the Citizen recreational plaza, and it is open all year round. It is used for both recreational, as well as, for lessons and official skating and hockey competitions. Great location to spend a few hours as a family any time of the year. *They will hold a short term skate classroom from age 5 – 65 years. Course A: Wednesday, Dec 26th and Thursday, Dec 27th from 10:30-11:45 OR Course B: Thursday, Jan 3rd and Friday, Jan 4th from 10:30-11:45 (reception from 9:30) for 6,400 yen. Check website for any last minute details on times. Sometimes they close due to private parties.

4. The Ice Rink at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) Jan 7 – Mar 1, 2020 – This seasonal rink will  open on Monday, January 7th, 2020 and run through Sunday, March 1, 2020. It is located in the Midtown complex and is the largest seasonal rink in Tokyo area at 20m×42m (840㎡).  The skating rink charges one fee that includes admission, skates and if wanted helmets and knee pads. Have a fun time skating in beautiful Midtown under the city lights. This rink is not covered so if it rains the rink does close. Sponsor of the rink is the Mitsui Fudosan.

5. Meiji Jingu Ice Skating Rink (Shinjuku-ku) – year round –  This year-round rink is very centrally located, accessible by four stations and has public parking. Lessons are also offered for children over age 4 for 3,400 yen for 45 mins. Nice size rink with many public facilities. Enjoy skating for a few hours and then enjoy other areas of Meiji Jingu.

Ario Kameari Ice Skate Rink7Ario Kameari Ice Skate Rink (Katsushika) Nov 16, 2019 – Feb 16, 2020This seasonal ice skate rink is set up at the Ario shopping plaza in Katsushika. There is plenty of free parking so come and shop at H&M, Uniglo, and other brands and have a skating playdate. The rink is smaller but just right for beginners.

Kodomo No Kuni Skate Rink9. Kodomo No Kuni Skate Rink (Aoba-ku, Yokohama) –  Dec 14, 2019 – Feb 24, 2020- This seasonal rink is located in the huge Kodomo No Kuni park in Yokohama. The rink is covered so you can also skate if raining. You can easily spend the entire day at the park skating for a few hours, having lunch at the restaurant, visiting the petting zoo and playing at one of the many playgrounds. Takes about 45 mins from central Tokyo by car, but plenty of easy access parking. If you have never been to Kodomo No Kuni, I highly recommend.
