Akasaka Circus Rink, Tokyo Ice Skating Rinks Winter 2016 - 2017

1. Akasaka Skate Rink (Akasaka, Minato-ku) – Nov 23 – Feb 25– This ice skating rink is the earliest to open each year. A very nice rink that is open late for night skating. Shop at the Winter market, enjoy a nice dinner at the Sacas complex then skate the night away.  There is also a 4-6-year-old group skate class on Wed and Fri afternoons from 15:00 – 16:00 for 4,000 yen (14,000 yen for 4 classes) – call 03-3588-6399 for reservations.

Futako Tamagawa Rise Skating Garden 2017, Tokyo ice skating

3. Futako Tamagawa Rise Skating Garden 2017 – Dec 14 – Mar 4 – Enjoy a day of shopping and skating at the Futago Tamagawa Rise complex. There is a “Kids Land” where one kids and one child can skate from 11:00 – 12:30 on all weekdays for 1,500 (includes skate rental). Kids group lessons are every weekday from 15:00 – 15:45 and 16:00 – 16:45 for 3,000 JPY per session. The skate rink can also be rented outside of normal business hours for a little over 30,000 yen per hour.  The skate rink is a full-scale 390 square meter ice skating rink. You can also enjoy the illuminations until late January.

Futako Tamagawa Rise Skating Garden 2017 Details
Days and Times: Thursday, December 14, 2017 – Sunday, March 4, 2018; Weekday From 13:00 to 19:00, Saturday/Sunday/National Holidays 11:00 to 20:00.

4. Citizen Ice Skate Rink (Takanobaba, Shinjuku) – year round –  This rink is located in the Citizen recreational plaza, and it is open all year round. It is used for both recreational, as well as, for lessons and official skating and hockey competitions. Great location to spend a few hours as a family any time of the year.

5. The Ice Rink at Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) Jan 5 – Mar 4 – This seasonal rink should be open on Friday, January 5th, 2018 and run through Sunday, March 4, 2018. It is located in the Midtown complex and is the largest seasonal rink in Tokyo area at 20m×42m (840㎡).  The skating rink charges one fee that includes admission, skates and if wanted helmets and knee pads. Have a fun time skating in beautiful Midtown under the city lights. This rink is not covered so if it rains the rink does close. Sponsor of the rink is the Mitsui Fudosan.

6. Meiji Jingu Ice Skating Rink (Shinjuku-ku) – year round –  This year-round rink is very centrally located, accessible by four stations and has public parking. Lessons are also offered for children over age 4 for 3,400 yen for 45 mins. Nice size rink with many public facilities. Enjoy skating for a few hours and then enjoy other areas of Meiji Jingu.

Edogawa-ku Sports Land Skate Rink7. Edogawa-ku Sports Land Skate Rink (Higashi Shinozaki, Edogawa-ku)Oct 1 – May 30 – A huge public indoor ice skating rink used for general skating, figure skating, speed skating and hockey. I think the best value in Tokyo for skating, although the location is not near a train station. You need to take a bus or drive. Paid parking is available.

Ario Kameari Ice Skate Rink8. Ario Kameari Ice Skate Rink (Katsushika) Nov 25 – Jan 8 – This seasonal ice skate rink is set up at the Ario shopping plaza in Katsushika. There is plenty of free parking so come and shop at H&M, Uniglo, and other brands and have a skating playdate. The rink is smaller but just right for beginners.

DyDo Drinco Ice Arena, west tokyo ice skating9. DyDo Drinco Ice Arena (West Tokyo) year round – Open year-round, 24 hours a day! The DyDo Arena is one of the largest ice rinks in Japan with seating for 3,500 people. There is open skating, lessons for 4 years and above and hockey teams.

Kodomo No Kuni Skate Rink10. Kodomo No Kuni Skate Rink (Aoba-ku, Yokohama) –  Dec 16 – Feb 25 This seasonal rink is located in the huge Kodomo No Kuni park in Yokohama. The rink is covered so you can also skate if raining. You can easily spend the entire day at the park skating for a few hours, having lunch at the restaurant, visiting the petting zoo and playing at one of the many playgrounds. Takes about 45 mins from central Tokyo by car, but plenty of easy access parking. If you have never been to Kodomo No Kuni, I highly recommend.

Enjoy outside skating amongst the holiday illuminations and music. Enjoy some shopping, have a nice dinner and skate the night away! Also, while in Yokohama visit the CupNoodles MuseumAnpanman Museum or the Overseas Migration Museum. 12. Tokyo Skytree Town Ice Skate Park (Sumida-ku) Jan 4 – Mar 11 –  Located beneath the Skytree you can can enjoy some beautiful illuminations while skating. They will also have a separate kids rink (500 JPY) with snow playing corner (free). Glove rental 300 JPY.

Open year round for the family who loves to figure skate. There is also onsite parking and a restaurant to enjoy lunch. The facility also has an indoor aqua zone with multiple pools and spas that the entire family can enjoy in bathing suits.
