After enjoying your feast head over to check out some shopping at the large Muji Store, Takumi or Itoya in Ginza. If you are in exercise mood, not shopping, and it is Sunday, try borrowing bikes and enjoy the park. The festival is 10 days so enjoy!

September 2017 Tokyo Top 10 Activities and Events3. Meguro Sanma Matsuri (Meguro, Tokyo) – One of my favorite things about Japan is the local community festivals. The Meguro Sanma Matsuri is held from 10:00 a.m. right outside Meguro Station. If you love grilled fish and want to join in celebrating the beginning of the Sanma season, then this is just the place. Over 6,000 fish will be grilled up and served with slices of lime. The smell is amazing. My kids love grilled Sanma and the other matsuri activities in the block make for many smiles and adventures. While you are in the neighborhood, walk down the street and take a beautiful stroll through the Nature Park where you will forget you are even in downtown Tokyo.

Tori gates at nezu, best Living Japan7. The Nezu Shrine Grand Festival is second to their famous Azalea Festival in Spring. Mikoshi (portable) shrines are collected from around Tokyo and carried through Nezu Shrine. The festival is two days of great sites, sounds and food.

A great one-day outing is first to visit the Shrine between 10:00 -11:00 (it gets very grounded around noon) and then walk about 15-20 mins to Ueno Park (Zoo, Art Museum, the Shitamachi Museum, National Science and Nature Museum or the Yamashiroya toy store). Between the Nezu Shrine and Ueno Park, there are plenty of little eateries; one of our favorites is Innsyoutei.
