Saru Shirogane (Ebisu/Hiroo, Tokyo) – Healthy Bistro

Saru Shirogane is one of those restaurants that looks interesting from the outside, but you might not have tried it because it is slightly hidden under a highway overpass. Saru sources their food from all over Japan to ensure they are honoring the four seasons and the natural bounty that Japanese farmers and fisherman harvest. Sara has personal relationships with the farmers they source from and has pictures of the farmers in the restaurant. The taste and prices at Saru are a great combination; most entrees run between 1,800 – 2,000 yen and appetizers are typically 900 yen. Although the food is local, most of the wine menu is Saru Shirogane, Tokyofrom Europe.

The interior of Saru is simple with two large communal table which can probably hold 12-14 people. If you go as a small group, don’t be surprised if you sit next to others.
