Paper quilling is a detailed art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs for greetings cards, pictures and boxes just to name a few. In this class, you will learn the art of paper quilling to create your own unique designs based on either a sake pitcher and cup or kagami mochi.  You will leave with a one-of-a kind work of art to decorate your space, and skills to build your own designs.

quiling class, mochi quiling, best living japan Fri Dec. 15 – 1pm – 5pm – New Year theme – Kagami Mochi

Kagami Mochi (or Mirror Rice Cake) is a traditional Japanese New Year decoration which consists of two round rice cakes stack on top of one another with a bitter Japanese orange balanced on top. The two rice cakes are said to represent the going and coming of the year; yin and yang, or the moon and the sun. In this class, you’ll create your own unique Kagami Mochi design to bring you good luck and prosperity in the new year. You can innovate on the theme with your own colors and patterns.
