We stayed at the Nagoya Kanayama Hotel on our way to visit the new outdoor Legoland Japan Theme Park and SC Maglev Railway Park. Kanayama Hotel is a great, family-friendly place to stay with free wifi, clean and modern rooms, breakfast buffet and great location; a 2 minute walk Kanayama Station and Asunal Kanayama Shopping Mall, also 3 minutes by train to Nagoya Station.

The hotel lobby is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel building with rooms on the 3rd floor and above; on the 1st floor sits a McDonalds and convenience store. If coming by car, parking is located at the back of the building around the corner for 1200 JPY. Kanayama Hotel has clean and modern rooms with great amenities: Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner, Shisedo face and body wash, complimentary face masks and personal items and bottled water. The bathrooms are clean with shower and heated toilet with bidet but may be a little snug for Westerners. As an alternative the hotel offers a clean and modern public bath; bath for men is location on 2F and women on 3F from 17:00 – 1:00am and 5:00 – 9:00. Laundry machines are located outside the bath. A bonus is their breakfast buffet located on the 9th floor with Western and Japanese cuisine.

It was a great place to stay. We could walk to the outdoor mall with a good variety of restaurants to please all palates, do a bit of shopping and relax at the hotel bath. After our fill of the breakfast we checked out (10:00 check out and 15:00 check-in) and drove 30 minutes to Legoland Japan (45 minutes by train). A good location with lots to do. Another alternative is to spend a long weekend at Nagashima Spa Land Amusement Park and Resort then spend the day at Legoland Japan. Nagashima Spa Land Amusement Park and Resort  is a 15 minute drive from Legoland Japan.
