Mount Gozaisho (御在所岳) in Mie is a popular location for hiking, offers beautiful panoramic views year-round of the Suzuka Mountain Range between the Mie and Shiga Prefectures and is a popular tourist attraction year round. Visitors can view the Azaleas in Spring, Red Dragonflies in Summer, White-capped mountains in Winter and Autumn Leaves in Fall.

Many ride the Gozaisho Ropeway (御在所ロープウェイ) from the base of the mountain at the Yunoyama Onsen Resort to the top of Gozaisho 1,212 m (3,976 ft). The start of the hiking trails can be found just past the gondola entrance. The 2km long 12-min gondola ride offers beautiful panoramic views of the Suzuka Mountain Range. We saw endless green, hikers below and azaleas beginning to bloom. Two Observatories; Fujimi-iwa with a view of Mt Fuji on a clear day and the Choyadai with views of Nagoya city and the Northern Alps, restaurants and activities can be found at the top of the mountain to keep little ones entertained.

If visiting in Winter, they have a ski resort at the top of the mountain ideal for beginner skiers and views of a beautiful snowy landscape filled with ice capped mountains and hard rime formations on trees.
There are a number of ryokans and inns at the base of Mount Gozaisho and the Yunoyama Hot Spring. We stayed at the Shikanoyu Hotel (Japanese only). Located less than a 5-min walk from Mount Gozaisho ropeway, we enjoyed Japanese-style meals and a private bath for the family.
Located about a 30-min drive from Gozaisho Ropeway is the Nagashima Spa Land Amusement Park and Resort. Taking in the mountains, amusement park and onsen makes a great family trip.
