Here are our May 12 & 13, 2018 Tokyo Weekend Family Events and Activities recommendations. This Sunday is Mother`s Day! Check our gift, eating and outing recommendations for Tokyo Mother`s Day.  There are some great school and cultural festivals this weekend. Hope to see you at one or more these events. 1. St Mary`s International School (Seta, Setagaya) – St. Mary’s International School will hold its annual Carnival on May 12th (rain or shine!). The Carnival features fun-filled game booths with exciting prizes, food booths filled with spectacular food and drinks from over 25 different countries, and fabulous live music. Be sure to purchase a few raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the many outstanding prizes. Proceeds support educational programs for the school.

2. Tokyo Camii Bazaar 2018 (Shibuya) – Learn about Islam and the Islamic culture! Exhibits will educate about many aspects of Islam across arts and culture. Try Arabic Calligraphy, Turkish food and more. Open to the public and all are welcome!

3. Cinco de Mayo 2018 (Odaiba) – The 6th annual Cinco de Mayo event will be held at Odaiba`s “Dream Plaza” with live entertainment, special Cinco de Mayo drinks and international food from all over the world including Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Colombia, North, Central and South America. They will also have activities for children.

4. Thai Festival (Yoyogi/Harajuku) – This is one of the biggest and most popular festivals held in Yoyogi Park each year. If you love Thailand, Thai food, beverages, music, dancing and hospitality you will have a great time a this festival. Definitely one of my must attend festival. Say Yum!

Notes: Stroller and wheelchair friendly. You can also take your dog, but keep on a short leash.

Weekend May 21 & 22, 2016, Yamathon5. Yamathon (around Tokyo) – The Yamathon is a fundraising challenge where teams of three or four people compete to walk or run through Tokyo, visiting all 29 stations of the famous JR Yamanote train line in under 12 hours. The start and finish are at the Tokyo Tokia Building near Tokyo station. The Tokyo Yamathon will take place Saturday, May 12th. Start is 8:00. 100% of the teams registration fee goes to Plan International. Teams can take any course and any transport as long as they visit all 20 stations and have a picture of the entire team in front of each station. I will definitely be visiting a few stations to cheer!  If you are interested in volunteering view Yamathon details here.

Tokyo Antique Shrine and Flea MarketsBONUS: Antique Hunting: There are three additional fairs to visit in Tokyo this weekend; O-Edo Antique Market (International Forum, Yurakucho), Gokokuji Antique Fair (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), and the Hanazono Shrine Antique Fair (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo).
