Lupicia is a tea and teaware retailer with locations in Japan, US, France, Australia and Taiwan. They carry their own blends of Green Tea, Oolong, Black Tea, Matcha, Wellness and Seasonal teas, gifts, sweets and teaware. They have a beautiful boutique shop in Jiyugaoka that carries an impressive selection of teas, teaware, gift sets and sweets.
Lupicia teas are categorized by type with the name and description of each easily displayed. Specialty or seasonal teas come prepackaged and the rest are sold in tins. Open the tins in the showcase and take in the smell and taste of each tea. If you want to purchase take the tea card located next to the tin to the register.

One of my favorites is the flowering Tea, a Jasmine tea where the tea leaves and flowers are bundled by hand into the shape of a ball. Pour hot water onto it, wait a few minutes and it will open like a flower. Their flowering blooms are a beautiful touch to enjoying your tea. There is a powerful Jasmine aroma, and fresh taste. A perfect gift for Mother`s Day or for friends. 380 yen per flower or purchase a 5 piece set for 1800 yen.
Lupicia also has a tea salon located on the 2nd floor of the building where patrons can enjoy their tea and confectionary. They hold tea school courses and tasting sessions (Japanese language). They also have a beautiful rooftop terrace, but it`s currently closed. They are not sure when they will reopen it to guests.
ABOUT LUPICIA TEA
“LUPICIA started out in Japan in 1994 and actually began as two separate tea stores. First as a black tea specialty store called “L’epicier”, meaning grocery store in French. Then a few years later a specialty tea store offering green teas from China and Japan called “緑碧茶園 Lu Pi Cha En”, meaning jade green tea garden in Chinese, was opened.
In 2005 the company decided to become a purveyor of world teas and combined the two stores and the two names resulting in the name “LUPICIA”. In a sense, it is a blending of cultures that envisions the hope to spread the wonderful flavors of tea and a tea drinking culture throughout the world.” – Lupicia USA
