Kids Extracurricular – Tokyo Speech & Drama Classes: Tuesday Afternoons

Best Living Japan is offering kids’ extracurricular – Tokyo Speech & Drama classes almost every Tuesday afternoon from 16:00-17:30 in Autumn 2020 (doors open from 15:45). Your kids can enjoy 1.5 hours of creative fun in a socially distanced safe space. Speech & Drama is being taught by our partner Tokyo Bees. The maximum class size is 10 kids in grades 1 – 5th; should we have demand we will separate into two classes 1st/2nd and 3rd-5th grades in a different space.

 Sign-up for three classes for 10,000 yen (3,330 yen per class, including tax) or all five for 15,000 yen (3,000 yen per class, including tax). We are taking class sign-ups for September 7 – October 20th; sign-ups for classes in late October – December will open in early October. 

* Masks are mandatory and temperatures will be take at beginning of each class. Kids will temps over 37 celsius will not be admitted to class.

Speech Works: Monologues & News Casts 

A fun scene where Children will learn speaking & reading expressively and work on character development in the style of a news network.

Speech & Movement: Telling a Short Story

Children will work on a short scripted play!

Tokyo Bees, Drama Academy

Tokyo Bees offer a professionally written curriculum ( Helen O` Grady International  )  which covers speech, movement and self expression through drama. We do Games, improvisation, script work & monologues, and promote ongoing confidence and clear speech. 

Children will work on RADIO PLAYS and  specially written Short Virtual musical snippets and Mock TV shows – adapted to follow the COVID Safety and hygiene guidelines and maintaining a perfect balance of physical  distancing and fun activities  during the lessons. 

 Through our drama classes students will:

  • Speak and communicate more confidently and clearly 
  • Learn performance skills and drama techniques
  • Improve their self esteem
  • Perform in online virtual productions
  • Socialise and meet new friends
  • Develop language
  • Understand empathy and self-awareness
  • Channel their energy positively and creatively

The ability to deal with people confidently, the ability to answer in full sentences, and the ability to engage a room full of people are skills which are absolutely key to any child’s development regardless of their academic performance, and help them get ahead in life in this increasingly competitive world.
