gujo hachiman Tokyo bon odori, Tokyo Family Weekend: June 25 & 26, 20161. Gujo Odori (Aoyama) – If you can not make it to Gifu-ken the third weekend in July to see the Cujo Odori don’t fret you can see this Saturday night in Aoyama.   The Gujō Odori (郡上おどり) is one of the largest and older Japanese Bon Odori.  The dance festival’s origins have been traced back to the Kan’ei era (1624–44), when it is believed to have originated as an exercise in social cohesion; it has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.  A great chance to study your moves for local Odori dances in July and August.
