We are excited to offer our first Japanese Dining Etiquette Class on Wednesday, March 15th. Attend this lunch if you want to gain confidence in your manners and be more relaxed the next time you visit a Japanese formal restaurant or friends home. We will enjoy a delicious lunch at the famous Tokyo Shiba Tofuya Ukai Restaurant at the base of Tokyo Tower.  From the moment you enter the beautiful tatami room to the ending tea, you can learn and gain hands-on Japanese Dining Etiquette Class @ Tofuya Ukaifeedback on all aspects dinning from our bi-lingual Japanese etiquette sensei. Tofuya Ukai Restaurant is a beautifully designed Edo period house located in the middle of 6,600 m² Japanese gardenUkai Tofuya Garden, Japanese Dining Etiquette Class @ Tofuya Ukai at the base of Tokyo Tower. The main dish of all of Ukai’s course meals is Tofu, with seasonal meats and vegetable served before to accompany.   We chose Ukai so that you can gain the ultimate etiquette experience from the moment you enter the front gate.

All areas of dining etiquette will be covered. Just a sample:

  • How to enter a Japanese tatami room and sitting manners
  • Dining greetings
  • Chopstick holding and usage
  • Placement and holding of dishes
  • Condiment usage

The Multi-Course Lunch Menu for the Japanese Dining Etiquette Class

Harusansai to yamame-subitashi  (Vegetables and grilled yamame trout)

Age Dengaku (Deep-fried tofu coated with miso)

Otsukuri (Today’s sashimi)

Hassun (Tomato Chirashi sushi & Wheat gluten dressed with tofu)

Tousui Tofu (Tofu boiled with seasoned soy milk in a hot pot)

Shinjaga to Sakuraebi (Potato & Sakura shrimps)

Takenoko Gohan (Cooked rice with bamboo shoots)

Dessert (Rice cake filled with sweet bean paste and wrapped in a cherry leaf)

Event Date and Time: Wednesday, March 15th, 2017: 11:00 – 13:00 (please arrive at 11:00 to allow for a photo and time in the lovely garden).
Registration: Register on this google form. Registration deadline is March 8th
Cost: 8,000 JPY (this covers lunch, tax and teacher fee) – After you register we will notify how to make payment before the event.
