If you are are looking for a “Japanese gift” for someone overseas or that something special for your home you will not walk away empty handed from the Japan Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square in Aoyama. This store’s differentiation is that they sell crafts and art of all mediums and from regions across Japan. I recently was shopping for gifts to send abroad with my first son (I have three) for the family he was visiting. In less than one hour, I had purchases a variety of handcrafted presents from silver drinking cups, lacquer trays, chopstick sets and scarves. Not only beautiful, high-quality products but everything is meticulously gift-wrapped.
Japan Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square
Japan Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square is a government supported store that was founded more than
30 years ago to promote awareness and understanding of the traditional crafts of Japan. One of my favorite highlights of visiting the store is that they have rotating artists making their crafts and arts onsite. You can view the exhibit and artist schedule about one month in advance by checking their website that is multi-lingual. Japan Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square carries crafts across all mediums, such as; textiles, lacquer, ceramics, glass, bamboo, and metals.
