Best Living Japan is partnering with Interior Designer, Cherie Jones, to offer Interior Design Class: Learn the Design Elements that Transform a House into a Home, January & February 2018. In this course you will learn about aspects of the design process, tools to create a space that feels warm and inviting, and the confidence to bring your ideas to life. Classes will be held for 5 weeks on Wednesday from 13:00 – 15:00. This is a five-week course which builds on each week so attendance is necessary for all 5 weeks. Interior Design Class: Learn the Design Elements that Transform a House into a Home, Jan – Feb 2018
The Best Living Japan Interior Design classes will be offered on Wednesdays 13:00 – 15:00 from January 24 – February 28, 2018 (February 13 is a vacation day).
1. The interior design class will be five sessions and cost 18,500 JPY + consumption tax (8%) + PayPal fee for the course.
2. Duration of Each Lesson: 2 hours and includes an introduction to the day’s topic and materials.
Classes are offered in the Best Living Japan K.K. class space in Minami Azabu.

The Interior Design course is comprised of 5 sessions. All classes are on Wednesdays from 13:00 – 15:00.
W1. Wednesday, January 24
Key Elements of Design – Learn how core design elements are used when decorating a space including Function, Mood, Scale, Symmetry, Balance, Texture, Colour, and Star Pieces; and how these elements are instrumental to creating the look and feel you desire.
W2. Wednesday, January 31
The Importance of Colour
In this class, we will look at how color influences mood and the overall look and feel of the space and how to choose colors that achieve your desired style. We will get creative and learn how to mix colors and create a color wheel, and discover how warm and cool colors can create a peaceful harmony or a vibrant contrast.
W3. Wednesday, February 7
The Art of Layering and Composition
The key to creating a beautiful interior that has a soul is layering. Learn how to create layers with your furnishings, and how to integrate different styles and periods, including treasures gathered from your travels.
W4. Wednesday, February 21
Learn how to create a Mood Board, one of the most fun parts of the design process. It’s also an important tool to help you capture your inspirations and design plan. You will choose a room or space you would like to work on and create a Mood Board to bring your ideas to life.
W5. Wednesday, February 28
In this final class, we will complete our chosen project and Mood Board.
With the tips and tools you’ve learned in this course, you’ll be able to create designs with confidence and style.
About the Teacher
Cherie Jones has been involved in interior design for over two decades, with experience working on four continents. She began her career in South Africa, as a stylist for television and glossy print magazines, before moving into interior design. Cherie founded a successful design company in Chicago called African Sanctuary, with a retail shop, design showroom, and an online shop, featuring sophisticated African design. Since moving to Tokyo in 2014, she’s helped expats to decorate their homes, has taught a number of classes in interior design and is a regular speaker at events. She will soon be launching a new blog on travel and design. Cherie believes your home should be your sanctuary, and her passion is to help people explore their sense of style and create their own personal sanctuary.

Best Living Japan Course Payment and Cancellation Policy
Cooking class registrations must be received with full payment at the time of registration. We are sorry, but we cannot accept registrations without full payment.
No refunds are offered on Best Living Japan courses once the course has begun. Students may cancel two weeks before the start of the course and receive a full refund minus payment/transfer funds. If a student can not attend a class, then they may send a replacement (friend or family) in place of themselves.
Refund Exception: If Best Living Japan has to reschedule or cancel a class, we will contact you directly by phone or email to offer a full refund. Under all circumstances, we will do our best to transfer you to another day or similar class.
