If you are visiting Ueno Park to see the National Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science or the Zoo, make a reservation for lunch or early dinner at Innsyoutei, Japan Tractional Restaurant (韻松亭). A delicious and beautiful restaurant which is also child-friendly.
Innsyoutei, Japanese Traditional Restaurant
Innsyoutei, open since 1875, is located in Ueno Park in an old Japanese house, and the name means “Rhyme of the Pine Cottage.” The restaurant has various course offerings from bento to more formal kaiseki meals, include a vegetarian choice. There are also tables and private tatami rooms. It is best to make a reservation,
especially for the private tatami rooms. The restaurant books out weeks in advance during autumn foliage and spring cherry blossom seasons.
I highly recommended Innsyoutei for lunch which has a beautiful course meal or bentos for 1,680– 6,300 JPY. Dinner is more expensive but wonderful for a date or small dinner group at 5,300–10,500 JPY per person. They have an English menu available if needed. The staff is very accommodating, assuring you a relaxing lunch or dinner in the beautiful surroundings. Innsyoutei, Japanese Traditional Restaurant, Ueno Park.
