Tsubaki Shokudo, Hiroo – Best Japanese Home Cooking in Hiroo
Why this restaurant is one of my favorite in Tokyo for home cooked food is that all the workers are Japanese women who seem to put their love and skill into every recipe. I have actually never had a bad meal at Tsubaki. My kids also love Tsubaki since they can order a la cart for their favorite foods from simmered seaweed (hijiki) to fried tofu (age dashi tofu). Most meals are 800 – 1,200 JPY, and a la cart dishes 400-600 yen. There is little to no English, but you can point and end up with a great meal.
The restaurant is child friendly but the seating is tight so strollers have to be left outside.
