Hamley`s Toy Store, Cafe & Playroom, Yokohama

Hamley`s entertainment toy store is a fantastic spot to spend a couple hours. Hamleys is the oldest and largest toy shop in the world. It is named after William Hamley, who founded a toy shop called “Noah’s Ark” in London in 1760. Currently, Hamleys operates over 110 stores all over the world. They opened their first store in Yokohama Japan then their second in Hakata in December 2018.

Hamley`s is located in the World Porters building with a number of shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from. As you enter you enter the building a Starbucks and restrooms will be on your left and Hamley`s on your right.

The 1st floor is filled with plush toys, legos and a carousel for children (300 yen per ride). The 2nd floor holds their Toy Demonstration Tables, Cafe, play room, and everything from board games to dolls.

Their playroom is open to babies and kids up to 12 years and is equip toys, playground equipment, slide and digital wall. The fee for a child (6 months +) is 600 yen for the first 30 min then 150 yen per additional 10 minutes or purchase a 90 minute pass for 1,500 yen. Passes are available Mon-Fri only. Adults (20 years +) 600 yen.

The cafe carries fresh sandwiches, cupcakes, cakes, ice cream and drinks. There are plenty high chairs and a small room with two projection mapping tables.

Hamley`s also offers a Birthday Party room from February 1, 2019. Weekdays from 11:00 – 18:00 (4,000 JPY/hour + tax) or Weekends & Holidays 11:00 – 18:00 (5,000 JPY/hour + tax). Hamley`s is located in the World Porters Building outside Cosmo World and the Cup Noodle Museum, and a few minutes walk from the Mark IS Shopping Mall and Landmark Tower.
