Fuji Safari Park offers visitors 4 options to experience their safari park 1) Self-drive option where visitors can progress through the park in their own car at their own pace, 2) Jungle Bus where you can see wild animals up close and feed them through the wire-netted windows of the bus for 1,300 yen/pp, 3) Super Jungle Bus where the tops and sides of the bus are netted so visitors can see animals from below for 2,000 yen/pp (Note children under elementary age are unable to ride), and the 4) Safari Navigation Car where you can take one of the Fuji Safari Park ranger’s 4WD vehicles and enjoy off-road driving and feed some animals for 5,000 yen/pp (5 people / 7 people Max). Fuji Safari Park (Shizuoka) – Tokyo Day Trip
We visited over the rainy weekend and the kids loved it. We avoided the crowds and most of the animals were out despite the cold rain. The fee when you drive into the park covers entrance and self-drive through the jungle park. We recommend heading straight to the bus tour center to purchase tickets for Jungle Bus as they go fast. Note they only accept cash. The gift shop and restaurants will accept card payment but not the jungle busses. It`s a 50 minute ride so remember to use the restrooms before boarding the bus.
The driver will hand you trays of carrots, apples, pellets and raw meat. Apples and Carrots are to feed the bears using long scissor type tools located underneath your seat; raw meat is fed to the lions using the same tools and brown pellets are for the camels. Open the plastic sliding doors located by your feet then place pellets in the metal drawer. Close the metal drawer so the camels can eat.
Post tour visit the Fureai Zone to feed and pet kangaroos, wallabies and capybaras or experience horse riding (food to feed animals are an extra charge), the Doubutsu Mura (Animal Village), or the The House of Cats, Dogs or Rabbits where you can play with the animal of your choice 500 JPY/30 min.
