Dirty Dishes is well known amongst the Tokyo & Yokohama expat community as the “Best” place to stock up on Japanese tableware. Dirty Dishes is a family owned dish trading company actually called Okuno Shokai located in a  sleepy residential area of Kawasaki, Kanagawa-ken. If Dirty Dishes (Kawasaki, Kanagawa-ken) - Japanese Tableware Wholesaleryou have a car and are living in central Tokyo, you can get to the warehouse in about 30-45 mins. Great place for a shopping trip before the holidays. I do not recommend taking children since the dishes are stacked everywhere. Also take cash, since credit cards are not accepted.  We also love Kappabashi (kitchen town) dish shopping.

Our other favorite Tokyo Dish Stores are

Tenpos Buster (Shinjuku) – a 2nd hand wholesaler of dishes and kitchen items from restaurants that have closed. If you are looking for volume this is the place.

Tadami dishes (Ebisu) – a mom and pop store near Ebisu station that has a large variety of pottery from low end to very high end.

Takumi (Ginza) – a beautiful store which lovely ceramics from all over Japan
