Chiba Camping Grounds – Glamping Tents and Cabins

Chiba is a beautiful prefecture with ocean, river and rice patties, and some of our favorite Chiba Camping Grounds. Below are five excellent camping facilities that are unique in environment and services. All camp facilities are within 2 hours drive from Tokyo so easy to get to for a quick R&R! Enjoy. Here are also some tips on what to take when camping, our recommended Japanese sunscreens and mosquito repellents.

Rewild Riverside Clamping Hill (Otaki, Chiba)  (Women only camping area) – A great camping location for a ladies’ weekend; 90 min drive from central Tokyo. Gather a group of ladies you love and enjoy nature with a bit of luxury. Riverside offers clamping tents for 2, 4 or 9 people or rent a pop-up tent. The camping sites include a grill table, chairs, and a table light. You can also rent cooking pans and utensils for a fee. Riverside has a beautiful onsen facility where you all can relax before drinks around the bonfire. Get back to nature with the girls!

The Farm Camp (Katori, Chiba) 

The Farm is a great family camping area with farming fields where kids can help pick veggies, art & craft activities, and a natural hot spring facility. There is even a pony and goat to visit and a zip line on site. There are a variety of glamping plans from cabins to tents to choose. The Farm also has a Cafe where you can grab salads, pizza, pasta, and locally sourced products. An onsite onsen is also available (no tattoos allowed).

Tent Glamping (Ichinomiya, Chiba) 

A three-minute walk to the beach, you can rent a glamping cabin and enjoy all your can drink for your stay and excellent BBQ. Only 90 mins from central Tokyo pack up the family and head to the beach!

Bub Resort Village (Chosei-Gun, Chiba)

Bub Resorts offers glamping tents with beds and zircon, or self-tenting spaces for groups of 4-5 people. Dogs are also welcome to stay. What sets Bub apart from other facilities listed here are the extensive activities they offer. For 12,000 yen, you can participate freely in vegetable and fruit harvesting, surfing, beetle collecting, soba making, mochi making, crab finding, rice growing, wood splitting, and building items with wood.

The Bamboo Forest (Chiba)

The Bamboo Forest Glamping area opened in March 2020 (just before COVID closures), but they are not open. The Bamboo Forest is located in central Chiba and next to the Sayuri World Zoo and Elephant World. You can rent a treehouse, Yurt or Dome for the night, enjoy a BBQ dinner (included in stay fee) and even eat with the Giraffes. The shower and toilet favorites are shared must the six accommodations. It looks like a fun escape from the city for families with zoo loving kids!

Fees:  tent/treehouse rental per night is 29,000 – 66,000 depending on day of week and season + night stay & dinner fee adults 11,000 yen, kids 5,500 -8,000 yen. **Note eating dinner with the giraffes is an extra 2,00o yen per adult, and 1,000 yen per child.
