Camden Blue Star Donuts is a Portland-born doughnut shop that opened in Osaka`s bustling Shinsaibashisuji neighborhood in September 2016. Little A and I were thrilled to have stumbled onto Camden Blue Star after a long morning of sight seeing in Shinsaibashisuji. We had visited their Daikanyama Log Road location in Tokyo just last month and were craving for more.

Camden Blue Star Shinsaibashisuji is a small shop with the same clean white interior. Their donuts are made fresh from scratch daily, and can be viewed being made just behind the cashier. This shop had nine of their popular donuts on display; the new Apple Brandy Fritter, Signature Glaze, Blueberry Bourbon Basil, Passion Fruit Cocoa Nib, Cointreau Creme Brûlée, Valrhona Chocolate Crunch, Raspberry Pistachio and Cinnamon Spice; all 410 yen except the Signature Glaze at 313 yen. The Raspberry Pistachio was deliciously crunchy on the bottom, fluffy on the inside and bursting with raspberry flavor. The Signature Glaze was fluffy and sweet.

Camden Blue Star Donuts Shinsaibashisuji offers an outdoor bench or a small standing bar indoors to eat. Coffee and take-away also available.

“Blue Star Donuts is a gourmet donut concept founded in Portland, OR, in 2012. Our donuts are made from a classic brioche recipe that originated in the south of France. The dough takes 18 hours to make and is made by hand every day.”
