Ai-Port Play Center (Aoyama, Tokyo)

If you are looking for an inexpensive, but fun place for a playdate try Ai-Port in Aoyama. Ai-Port is run by Minato-ku as a multi-purpose community facility. There is a good indoor/outdoor play area, childcare facility and child-raising advice center. The indoor play facility is one large room divided into three play areas with toys for babies to six years.My two-year-old had a great time in the playhouse area. There is also an enclosed playground with jungle gym equipment and tricycles at Ai-Port.

If you want to bring lunch, the facility has a nice area where parents can sitwith their kids and eat an obento. Ai-Port also offers various child and parent classes during the week such as ballet and yoga. There are also a few mom only classes for cooking. Class materials are available at the front desk in Japanese, but the staff can explain to you in basic English. Ai-Port also offers temporary and emergency nursery services, but you must speak to the Ai-Port Center for details.
