The weather is supposed to be beautiful so venture out and explore!   Want some Japanese culture then head to the Okinawa Festival in Yoyogi, If you are in the shopping mood there are great bargains to be found at the Nishimachi Community Flea Market or the Tokyo Flea Market. Of course don’t forget the Tokyo Area Antique Markets. Are you a Star Wars lover? If yes, a must visit before June is the Star Wars exhibit in Roppongi Hills.  If you are still unwinding from the craziness of GW, then take a leisurely stroll through one of my favourite parks – Shirogane Nature Park. Enjoy!

005-1#1. Okinawa Festival (Yoyogi/Harajuku) – Do you feel summer in the air? Get in the tropical spirit by attending the Okinawa Festival at Yoyogi Park this weekend. If you love great music, delicious food and want to learn more about Okinawa this is a good event for the family.  Definitely on my list for some late afternoon relaxation this weekend.

Nishimachi Community Service Flea Market#2. Nishimachi International School Flea Market (Moto Azabu, Minato-ku) — Nishimachi International School is holding their annual Nishimachi Community Service Flea Market this Saturday, May 9th. If you are looking for home items, kids clothing, toys or books, this is the place to shop. Some great end-of-school-year sale items! You can also enjoy a talent show by Nishimachi students and a delicious BBQ for all on the playground. This year proceeds will go to Tohoku and the Kirivorn School in Cambodia.

The Institute of Nature Studies in Shiorgane#3 The Institute of Nature Studies in Shiorgane (Shirogane, Minato-ku) – If you do not have time to get outside of Tokyo, but want to escape for an hour or two than the park run by The Institute of Nature Studies in Shiorgane is a convenient and tranquil solution. The Japanese iris are just starting to bloom. I love this park and Baby loves watching the turtles and hiking in the “jungle”. Even though the park is located right next to a highway that cuts through Minato-ku you will not know it. The sounds of birds and the breeze through the trees covers the city sounds.  When you arrive at the park purchase your tickets at the handy ticket The Institute of Nature Studies in Shiorganemachine, pin your entry ribbon to your top and enter the wild. Remember only to leave footprints, and only take memories and photos. Also return the entry ribbon since the are very eco and reuse. Also note; the park is closed on all Mondays unless a national holiday. There is no parking for cars, but a nice area for bicycles.

The 7th Tokyo Flea Market BestLivingJapan#4. The 7th Tokyo Flea Market 第7回東京蚤の市概要 (Tamagawa) – This huge flea market running all day on Sat and Sun (May 9 – 10; 10:00 – 19:00) has everything from household items to collectables. You can spend hours picking through other people’s “treasures and junk”.  The Tokyo Flea Market is one of the largest Japanese flea markets in Japan, and attracts sellers from around the country. There are also numerous music performances and food vendors in attendance so enjoy.

#5. The Star Wars: Visions Exhibition (Roppongi Hills, Roppongi) – Now that the lines have died down a bit venture out to the Star Wars: Vision Exhibition! Over 100 works of Star Wars art and collectible are on view for die hard Star War lovers. Get your fix to tie you over until the next and last Star Wars movie launches this autumn.
