Tokyo 2016 Halloween Events, Costumes, Decorations and Candy

Here is our go to list of Tokyo 2016 Halloween Events, Costumes, Decorations and Candy resources. Halloween is one of my most favourite holidays, as it is for my children. The Japanese have officially embraced Halloween (maybe not the tricker treat part, but the home party). Ten years ago it was almost impossible to find costumes and decorations, but now every 100 yen shop, Tokyu Hands and Amazon.co.jp have Halloween products. Another great shopping resource is The Foreign Buyers’ Club and Costco. Pumpkins can be tough to find and sell-out quickly, so buy early.

Every year we have at least 20 kids at our apartment experiencing “American Halloween”. I am fortunate to live in a neighborhood which embraces Halloween, so the kids are out for a few hours and then back for pizza. Regardless of whether you are going to trick or treat, or have a home or school party be prepared. For the home, party remember to have spooky music and crafts on hand. If trick-or-treating, remember to have the kids wear reflective arm bands or carry flash lights so the cars will see your little ones.

  1. Hi there. Just wondering whether the National Azabu event is at their parking lot (as mentioned on their Facebook page) or at the Arisugawa park as mentioned here (with the embassies and bazaar). Any further details? Thank you!

    • Hi Rachel, The National Azabu event will be held in the supermarket parking lot. This year food companies will participate in the event. Please see the post for updates. Have fun!

      • Thank you, Sandra. But is there also an event this Sunday the 30th at Arisugawa park? Also, I saw signs that there could be something this Saturday the 29th at the Azabu Juban shopping district. But I couldn’t understand it all as I don’t read Japanese! Any help is welcome!

        • Hi Rachel,
I looked online and it looks like there is a stamp rally on the 29th in Azabu Juban. Pre-ticket distribution has finished however you can get numbered tickets from 1:30pm that day. 500 numbered tickets max.
I`m unable to find anything online for Arisugawa park on the 30th aside from a stamp rally. Do you have a photo of the flyer?
