TELL (Tokyo English Life Line) provides an Exceptional Parenting Program (EPP) workshop series each school year which support global parents on a wide-range of topics. I have attended quite a few over the past years and have found each one to be valuable to maintain some sanity in our crazy house!  The Exceptional Parenting Program, which runs image1from October to May, features six or more presentations by English speakers from a variety of disciplines, and takes place at in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo.   The workshops are centered on providing insightful, practical information to increase awareness and understanding of various issues associated with raising and educating a child with learning differences/diverse needs. The workshops are free of charge, but donations are highly appreciated to support future EPP workshops.

TELL Exceptional Parenting Program –  Helping Young People to Manage Anger

The first workshop of this school year,  Helping Young People to Manage Anger will be Tuesday, 11 October, 2016 from 10:00 – 12:00.

About the topic:  Anger is an emotion with a bad press – and that’s because very few people manage it effectively.  Sara Hitchens will discuss the psychology and physiology of anger and how parents can actively teach their children to express this healthy emotion in a way that works for, not against them.

About the presenter: Sara Hitchens is a UK-trained counsellor and psychotherapist, currently working in Tokyo in private practice.  For the last 3 years, she has been worked as a school counsellor at the British School and the International School of the Sacred Heart. She is an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred); and also a member of International Mental Health Professionals Japan (IMHPJ).  Sara has lived and worked internationally, in Spain, France, Pakistan and previously in Tokyo from 1985-89.   This has given her personal experience of the nomadic life-style, and an interest in cross-cultural issues.

For more information about Sara

Please RSVP to excep.parents@telljp.com directly if you are able to attend. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on October 11th.
