Okadaya Shinjuku is a great place to go to for textiles. They have two buildings; one with six floors of fabric (cotton, velvet, silk, satin, organic cotton, fleece, velor, wool, etc), traditional Japanese materials and other special textiles; and the adjacent building carries seven floors of basic materials (buttons, thread, string), decorative materials (ribbons, lace, sequins) school entrance materials (for lesson bags, drawstring string bags, etc), cosmetics, stage-makeup, colored contacts and wigs. They also carry sewing supplies and machines. A great spot with everything you need to create cute costumes for Halloween and parties, school bags and more.
Located a couple minutes walk outside the East Exit of Shinjuku Station this shop is a great place to purchase items for Japanese Kindergarten or Elementary School. School starts in a few short weeks! Purchase your supplies here and create those cute lesson and drawstring bags for a great price! Sign up for their point card and receive 5% off your purchase. Note: the walking area in the store is tight. Too difficult to navigate with a stroller. Best to leave your stroller outside.
