Nakameguro is a popular yet quiet residential neighborhood filled with unique boutique shops and cafe. The area comes alive with their Cherry Blossom festival along the Meguro River in mid spring and during their summer matsuri (festival).

Start your morning off at City Bakery. Located right outside the South Gate at Nakameguro Station we love that you can grab a coffee and a delicious variety of baked goods and pastries JP size, or NY size to fit each person’s appetite. Eat in or take out. Hours 7:30 – 23:00.

Spend the morning at Nakameguro Park a well-maintained open grass park frequented by locals. They have a Flower and Greenery Learning Center, small pond with fish, frogs and insects, and small playground with a slide, two swings and a sandpit. They also have a small water play area open in summer, court to play basketball, and near the back of the park a circular stone walk. Take your shoes off and walk barefoot a few laps for good foot health.

If you plan to stay at the park a good lunch option is Bagel Standard. Bagel Standard is a small shop on Yamate Dori that serves New York Style plain, toasted or sandwiched bagels, juices and smoothies. The owner uses American wheat and flour to create bagels that are firm, plump and delicious! They also serve pre-made deli sandwiches from 480 yen; Ham & Egg, Tuna Salad, Egg Salad, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese, Honey Mustard Chicken and more. Made-to-order bagel sandwiches also available. Open Wednesday – Sunday 10:00 – 18:00; Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Pizzeria e trattoria da isa

Pizzeria e Trattoria da ISA is another good lunch option. This small, Italian styled eatery serves authentic Naples style pizza and delicious food. The owner and pizza chef behind the massive wood-fired oven works diligently to create his award-winning pizzas. He won 3 consecutive years at the World Pizza Cup competition held in Naples, Italy. Reservations recommended. Hours: Daily 11:30-14:00 and 17:30-22:30. Closed Mondays, and Tuesday if Monday is a National Holiday.

Sugekari Park

Sugekari Park and Japanese-style House and Garden is located a few minutes walk from Pizzeria e Trattoria da ISA, and behind the Don Quijote Nakameguro head office. It has lush green, a vegetable garden maintained by local volunteers, grass picnic area, playground, Japanese garden and pond. The refurbished Japanese house has a viewing room overlooking the lush garden and pond filled with Large Koi. Stop in the Don Quijote, Japan’s largest discount goods store, for goods.

Walk up the hill from Sugekari Park to Daikanyama and find yourself near the popular T-site area or walk along the Meguro River towards Nakameguro Station. The Meguro River walk is a beautiful river walk with boutiques and restaurants aligning both sides of the river.

Colosseo is great lunch / dinner option, also our favorite Italian restaurant in Nakameguro. This family-owned and operated restaurant consistently serves delicious Italian cuisine with freshly made bread complete with the purest olive oil. Their two-pasta set, a half plate of meat pasta with tomato sauce and a seafood pasta with white sauce, is a neighborhood favorite. Hours: Lunch 11:30 – 15:00, Dinner 18:00 – 25:00. Open daily. Closed for special holidays.

Another kid-friendly option is Aloha Table, a popular Hawaiian  restaurant 2 minutes from Nakameguro Station. Walking into an Aloha Table restaurant makes you feel like you`re back on the island with friendly staff, island decor and music, and some of our favorite island foods. Patio seating also available. Hours: 11:30 – 23:30.

If you have time before dinner stop off at Meguro Ginza Playground, a small, sand park 2 minutes from Nakameguro Station. Kids can play on the new equipment while watching the Hibiya & Toyoko line trains go by. Restroom and Onibus Coffee located near the entrance of the playground.
