[CLOSED] Monarch Cupcake, Harajuku

Monarch Cupcake Best Living JapanUnfortunately, Monarch Cupcake’s Harajuku location is now closed. Their website says they will be opening a new store in September 2015. However, there is no mention of where the new store will be located.  I do hope they open a new store soon.

******Allow me introduce you to Monarch Cupcakes (モナーク カップケーキ)!  You all know I have a sweet tooth and am always on the look out for new sweets in Japan. Monarch is one of my new favourites for cupcakes. They offer about 14 cupcake flavors on the everyday menu, with some seasonal special flavours as well. This tiny shop is located right at the end of Takeshita Dori if you walking down the street from Harajuku station.

The flavors have standard favourites such as Classic Vanilla, Double Cholocate and Red Velvet, but also Chocolate Moca, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Strawberry & Cream. My personal favourite is the Coconut, which has an amazing Madagascan bourbon vanilla frosting covered with coconut shreds. The cupcakes are sweeter than Bella’s but not as sweet as Magnolia’s. All of the cupcakes I purchases were fluffy and moist. The cupcakes range in price from 450 yen to 520 yen.

Monarch Cupcake opened in early 2015 and is the first shop for a British expatriate Furva Saleem (Favu~a Salim) who grew up in a family of restauranteurs.  Please support this start-up and drop in for at least one cupcake!
