Gas Science Museum, Toyosu
The museum takes about 60-90 minutes to tour depending on how much Japanese you and your child can read, and also how much they want to play at the exhibits. The Museum also has cooking classes and workshops for kids that you can make reservations, see calendar and details in Japanese here.
When you enter the museum, you will immediately see many images of the two character Pika (yellow) and Puka (blue) -kids love Pika and Puka. Visit the Flame Gallery on the 1st floor where you can turn notes to see the gas flames get bigger and smaller – kids love this! When done in the Gallery head over to the 1st-floor interactiv area where you can learn about where gas comes from, how it is processed and transported to homes.
On the second floor check out the mini convenience store where little ones can take a shopping basket and pretend to buy the eco products. Most of the products are made from recycled materials but not for sale in the museum. Next to the convenience store there is a play Chinese restaurant set-up where kids can learn about how gas is used in cooking.Fun interactive area. On the 2nd floor, there are also deeper educational materials on the future of gas andother topics.
Do not forget to visit the AMAZING roof garden. Kids can spend time running around safely while Mom and Dad enjoy a rest!
The Museum has very limited English instruction, but it is not that hard to figure out the basics of what is trying to be explained. Very stroller friendly with elevators and has kid and baby friendly bathrooms.
