How to Find a Dog Kennel in Japan?

How to find a dog kennel in the Tokyo area? How to find a dog kennel in Japan? Whether you are a new or a veteran dog owner trusting your dog with others can be very stressful. Not just any dog kennel, but ideally a cage free, fun playing environment. Honestly, there are presently not a lot of options. We struggled to find a kennel we could trust the first year of dog parenthood in Tokyo. However, the second year we found Athletic Dog Club and have been happy dog parents ever since. After interviewing many dog owners, I have curated a shortlist of 3 dog kennels in the Tokyo/Kanto area.  The holidays are approaching fast so book your reservation this week.  If you have personally used other kennels and would like to recommend, please add the information below. Happy Dog Days!

  1. Hi, thank you for the information, it is very helpful. Can you advise if these kennels are near Tokyo Bay? We arrive for a new work contract in mid September and will have to find a temporary home for our little Maltese Terrier, close to this area until we move to our full time house.

  2. hi – we just visited the Athletic Dog Club on this blogs recommendation and we were shocked to find that the entire premises is caged. The owner admitted that the dogs are kept caged the majority of the time. The assertion that this premises is 100% cageless is wrong and misleading. Please correct before any other readers try out this place based on wrong information!

    • Hello Nina, thank you for your feedback. I will update the post to include your cage feedback. Sorry it used to be cage free.
