The Christmas markets and city illuminations are in full swing so take a walk or bike around to enjoy the glow of the holidays, shop for gifts and seasonal produce.

1. Shop and Eat at a Christmas Market
Bridge Street Market – Enjoy a “British Christmas Market” for one day in Omotesando. The market held in a local art gallery will offer food, drink, home accessories, jewelry and other craft & art items. Great place to shop for the holidays.

Tokyo Christmas Markets Best Living JapanRoppongi Hills Christmas Market – If you would like to get in the spirit with some friends by having a beer and some sausage than this is the market for you. I would not recommend for kids because it is very crowded and hard to see anything. However, if you are out and about, adults only, it will increase your spirit!  Lots of beautiful but expensive Christmas ornaments, and outside seating with heaters. Enjoy!

Not Tokyo but a great event to attend in Yokohama – Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Christmas Market is being held until Dec 25th and isimg_01 a great place to visit for shopping, eating and sightseeing. The Christmas Market is very popular due to its GermanHuette style. The entire complex is highly decorated ornaments and dolls from the Erzgebirge region of Germany.

2. Go Antique Hunting in Tokyo

Tokyo Antique and Flea MarketsEnjoy four great markets in town this weekend; the O-Edo Antique Market (International Forum, Yurakucho), the Hanazono Shrine Antique Fair (Shinjuku), the Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine Antique Fair (Fukagawa), and the Arai Yakushi Antique Fair (Arai). Small teacups and plates, kimono fabric and old Japanese papers make great gifts for the holidays. Hope you find that perfect gift for yourself or someone special. The Farmers Market at the UN University 3. The Farmers Market at the UN University (Omotesando) is a great place to visit in winter as mikan, yuzu, daikon, renkon, strawberries and other bounty are in season and oh so, so yummy. My kids love biking to the Farmers Market and buying their special vegetable and fruit treats.

4. The Earth Day Market
organicThis is a great market to attend. Everything from organically grown fruit and vegetables through to fair trade goods and handmade crafts will be sold in over 50 stalls lining the ‘Keyaki Namiki’ stretch between Shibuya and the main part of the park.

Oedo Onsen5. Warm-up at the Oedo Onsen Monogatari (Odaiba, Koto-ku) – To warm up this cold time of year a trip the Oedo Onsen in Odaiba is perfect. The whole family can enjoy bathing in the multiple onsens, taking a break to play games, eat Japanese food, and then bath again. A great 3-4 hour activity that all will enjoy! Access: 2 min walk from the Telecom Center Station on the Yurikamome Line, or 7 min free shuttle from the Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line.
