1. Tokyo Christmas Market 2016 (Hibiya Park)

December 17 & 18, 2016 Tokyo Weekend Family ActivitiesEnjoy the huge Christmas market at Hibiya Park. This is a European-inspired traditional festival that follows from the Middle Ages. They will have a 14 m high Christmas pyramid, plentiful food and drinks such as grüw wine and sweets, direct import and sales of ornaments in the Elts region of Germany, as well as live performances and workshops.

Azabu Juban Omochitsuki2. Azabu Juban Rice Pounding Event – Omochitsuki (Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, Tokyo) – Come to this annual community event on Sunday (December 18, 2016) from noon in Azabu Juban. You can join in the rice pounding from noon in the Azabu Juban Patio area (small stone park with statue of little girl), near the Blue & White store and the new Picard store.

5. Go Antique Hunting in Tokyo

Tokyo Antique and Flea MarketsEnjoy three great markets in town this weekend; the O-Edo Antique Market (International Forum, Yurakucho), Hanazono Shrine Antique Fair (Shinjuku), and the Takahata Fudo Antique Fair (Hino). If traveling out of Tokyo visit two additional markets in Kanagawa. Small teacups and plates, kimono fabric and old Japanese papers make great gifts for the holidays. Tokyo Christmas Markets Best Living JapanRoppongi Hills Christmas Market – If you would like to get in the spirit with some friends by having a beer and some sausage than this is the market for you. I would not recommend for kids because it is very crowded and hard to see anything. However, if you are out and about, adults only, it will increase your spirit!  Lots of beautiful but expensive Christmas ornaments, and outside seating with heaters. Enjoy!

Not Tokyo but a great event to attend in Yokohama – Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Christmas Market is being held until Dec 25th and isimg_01 a great place to visit for shopping, eating and sightseeing. The Christmas Market is very popular due to its GermanHuette style. The entire complex is highly decorated ornaments and dolls from the Erzgebirge region of Germany.
